VIEWS FROM WITHIN

Space Studio, in collaboration with Vadehra Art Gallery, presents a group exhibition titled Views from Within that explores a mapping of our interior states of mind, relating the affective nature of ways of seeing to a recognition of differing realities or moments of experience. The exhibition features artworks by nine artists who are alumni of Space Studio: Aditya Chadar, Meenakshi Nihalani, Nalinakshya Talukdar, Naveen Tungana, Riddhi Vasoya, Santanu Debnath, Sonali Sonam, Teja Gavankar and Vipul Badva.

The artists present several slice-of-life scenarios, from heavily populated urban interiors to weather-worn building and pastoral exteriors, and characters who are both disembodied or traversing through contextual landscapes. Ranging from painting and sculpture to embroidery and woodcuts, the works carry pop sensibilities, with their saturated aesthetic, vibrant colours and bold patterns, as well as technical experimentation in frames of reference, with many of the works appearing in series or plotting repetitive elements within them.

As relational beings, we move through spaces armed with moods, perceptions and responses that decidedly rival the world as it objectively is in favour of what it feels like to us. The show seeks to emphasize the sequential nature of storytelling by grounding contemporary chaos or composure in an individual point-of-view, without whom a view observed, and more importantly felt, would be ungrounded.

Views from Within is on view at Vadehra Art Gallery, New Delhi until 16 August 2025.
